What is the Black Woman Business Grant?
The Buy from a Black Woman Business Grants are small business grant awarded to Black Woman Business Owner. It was created by a Black Woman, for Black Women. See some of our previous Black Woman Grant Recipients here.
What are the Grant Application Dates?
Applications are opened from Oct. 1-31, 2020. We will announce this year’s Grant Recipients on November 19th, Buy From a Black Woman Awareness Day!
How many grants will be awarded?
There will be one winner for each grant category. There will be no surprises this year...I think...
Who may apply for the Black Woman Business Grant?
A Black Woman Business Owner. Businesses must be in good standing and continuous operation selling/providing a product or service in the market no less than six months and no more than 3 years. Black Women Business Artist applying for the Black Woman Copyright Grant are not required to operate under a different business name.
My company is kinda like Buy from a Black Woman, can I apply?
No. Good luck with your business tho.
I’m half black, can I still apply?
This grant is for Black Women who identify as Black Women. If you are okay with us calling you “Black Woman” then this grant is for you. Except those who pretend to be Black when they are not. You know who you are.
Can Nonprofits apply?
Yes.
I don't have an EIN, can I still apply?
If you have a legal business, you should have an EIN. Do not leave any fills blank on your application. We will not accept it.
I don’t live in the states, can I apply?
The Black Woman Business Grants are only opened to Black Women Business Owners operating in the Unites States. Sadly, we are not equipped for international grants at this moment.
How do I apply for the grant?
You can check out all the grants here. Only apply for one.
Can I start my entry and come back to it?
No. You will need to complete your entry at the time you start it.
How is the recipient of the Black Woman Business Grant selected?
The Grant Committee reviews each and every application. Every single one. The following elements are used when making a selection:
-Clear, compelling essay answers.
-Uniqueness or innovative
-How well the entrant’s brand aligns with the Buy from a Black Woman brand
-Review of website, social media site and online presence
-What the funds would be used for.
Why is there an application fee? I thought grant money was supposed to be free?
Your application fees goes to the admin. fees and cost to help keep Buy from a Black Woman in operation and all it takes to help the Black Woman Business Grant to keep going. We understand that paying an application fee isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay.
