Understanding The Consumer Purchase Decision Process




When dealing with costumers, it is important to always remember that their behaviors determine how, who and how much they are going to “buy”. Psychological variables (their perception, lifestyle, are they motivated), Social Influences (family, social classes and culture) and their purchases situation( reason to buy, timing and surroundings) are the front runners to decided to buying something.

Ask yourself, is your product solving an extensive problem or a routine problem? How often will the consumer need to come back to you? When searching for information on your product/services is it easy to locate? Does it take minimal effort for a consumer to buy and buy an buy again, and AFTER they do buy, what is the post purchases feeling like? Remember, your business should be solving a problem for the audience you are serving. Use this chart as a way to think from the consumer side. In the end, it’s the consumers who are the ones keeping you in business.
